Uses
Felden Flash (Piroxicam) is indicated for the treatment of pain caused by arthritis. It is an NSAID which exhibits pain relieving and antipyretic effects by affecting the process in which prostaglandins are synthesized. When administered by mouth, it inhibits COX in a non-selective manner. Cyclo-oxygenase is an enzyme in the body which contributes to the formation of prostaglandins and other mediators of pain and inflammation.
Pain is caused when the tissue in the body releases these prostaglandins, which can cause strong physiological reactions, including smooth muscle tissue contractions and pain. They can even increase the pain signals sent from the nerves. By blocking COX and reducing the production of prostaglandins, this medicine can help to significantly reduce the pain caused by musculoskeletal disorders including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and other related disorders.
Dosage and Administration
Felden Flash (Piroxicam) is provided as tablets, each of which contains 20mg of the primary active ingredient.
