Uses
Lariago DS (Chloroquine) is used to treat or prevent the occurrence of a disease known as malaria, which is caused by a parasite that is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. This condition usually only occurs in parts of the world where malaria is common. In some cases, this medicine may be prescribed to treat amoebae infections, and it has also been used by some people to treat rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.
Dosage and Administration
Lariago DS (Chloroquine) comes in the form of tablets, which are taken by mouth. Patients taking it for malaria prophylaxis are sometimes told to start treatment 2 weeks before travel. Doctors sometimes prescribe a dosage of one 500mg tablet per week, with each dose taken on the same day each week. Treatment should continue for the entire period for which the patient is present in the area affected by malaria, and for at least 8 weeks after returning. Other conditions may require different dosage regimens.
