Uses
Spectra 75 (Doxepin) is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) that can improve the mood of patients affected by depression. It may also be used for anxiety, depressive symptoms caused by alcoholism and psychiatric disorders. Some doctors have prescribed it for sleep maintenance. This drug acts on neurotransmitters in the brain, which is believed to help contribute to an improvement in depressive symptoms. Research has also been conducted on this drug's effects if used for chronic pain in patients with depression.

Dosage and Administration
Patients undergoing treatment with Spectra 75 (Doxepin) capsules should listen carefully to the instructions that their doctor gives them. Adults treating anxiety that is moderate in nature may be told to take 75mg per day, in 1 to 3 doses, with the exact dosage regimen being decided by the doctor. Maintenance treatment may require adjustment of the dosage. Mild or severe anxiety may require different dosage regimens, and the dosage for depression, insomnia, psychiatric disorders or any other conditions is usually different. Side effects
Treatment with Spectra 75 (Doxepin) may cause:

• Vomiting
• Weight gain
• Perspiration
• Dryness in the mouth
• A reduction in sex drive

Report any side effects that occur to your doctor. If you experience pain when urinating, hallucinations, tremors or any other serious side effects, see your doctor immediately.

Precautions
Antidepressant medication may cause unexpected mental health changes in some patients, such as aggression, restlessness, severe mood changes, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. If this occurs, see your doctor immediately.

Patients who are being treated with this drug on a long term basis may be required to have blood tests conducted.
