Uses
Genticyn Eye Drops (Gentamicin) are considered to be an effective treatment for many different infections of the eye caused by bacteria. This product may be prescribed to treat bacterial conjunctivitis, blephartis and various other bacterial infections of the eye. The main ingredient in these medicated eye drops belongs to a group of medicines called aminoglycoside antibiotics. It attacks the bacteria responsible for causing the infection.

Dosage and Administration
Genticyn Eye Drops (Gentamicin) need to be applied to the eye or eyes that require treatment. However, before you can use them, you will need to go and see your doctor so that your condition can be diagnosed. Your doctor will then prescribe the appropriate dosage. In most cases, adults are told to apply the drops every 4 to 8 hours. Never apply more than the amount of drops your doctor prescribed for you, and remember that you must continue using the drops for the entire duration that your doctor prescribed (unless your doctor tells you to stop using them).

Side effects
Genticyn Eye Drops (Gentamicin) may cause stinging or redness of the eyes. In some cases, blurred vision can occur. If any of these reactions are serious or worry you , see your doctor straight away. Severe side effects are rare, but still possible. If you notice signs of a fungal infection in the eyes or a worsening of your condition, see your doctor immediately.

Precautions
Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience blurred vision.

Patients who wear contact lenses should note that the lenses should not be worn during treatment without the approval of the prescribing doctor.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Genticyn Eye Drops (Gentamicin) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.
