Uses
Metamide (Metoclopramide Hydrochloride) is a dopamine antagonist with gastroprokinetic and antiemetic properties. It is used to treat sickness and vomiting, such as that caused by radiotherapy, chemotherapy or surgery. Patients have also used it for the treatment of heartburn and ulcers in patients affected by GERD (gastrointestinal reflux disease). It is also used to help with gastric emptying in patients affected by gastroparesis (delayed emptying of the stomach), which helps to reduce nausea and other abdominal symptoms, and some people have used it for to help with the absorption of painkillers due to slowed emptying of the stomach. This medicine treats vomiting by affecting receptors in what is referred to as the chemoreceptor trigger zone.

Dosage and Administration
Metamide (Metoclopramide Hydrochloride) tablets are taken orally. The medicine content of each tablet is 10mg. Patients are generally instructed by their doctor to take it for 4 to 12 weeks only. It should not be taken in excess of the amount recommended or for more than 12 weeks due to the risk of serious side effects related to movement, which may be permanent.
