Uses
Noflam (Naproxen) is indicated for the relief of pain, occurring as a result of a wide range of conditions, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, dysmenorrhoea, as well as backaches, toothaches and pain caused by other conditions. This drug is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).

When used by patients affected by arthritis, this medicine can help to provide relief from inflammation, pain and stiff joints. It works by preventing the body from producing substances called prostaglandins. As these prostaglandins can trigger inflammation and pain, preventing them from being produced is effective in controlling pain.

Dosage and Administration
Noflam (Naproxen) comes as 500mg tablets, which are administered orally. Adults undergoing treatment for ankylosing spondylitis are sometimes told by their doctor to start out with 250mg to 500mg, taken twice per day. For maintenance therapy, the maximum daily dose is 1500mg (in 2 doses), with the treatment period generally limited. Gout, bursitis, tendonitis, dysmenorrhoea, rheumatoid arthritis and any other conditions usually require different dosage regimens.

Side effects
Noflam (Naproxen) can cause:

  • Mouth sores
  • Bloating
  • Feelings of anxiety
  • Problems related to hearing
  • A burning or tingling sensation affecting the legs or arms

Prior to commencing treatment, all patients will be advised by their doctor of what to do if side effects occur. Immediate medical care will be needed if you experience pain or difficulty when urinating, severe fatigue, blisters, visual disturbances, weight gain or any other symptoms of a serious reaction.

Precautions
Patients are generally advised not to drink alcoholic beverages during treatment, as this may put them at an increased risk of stomach bleeding.

Patients who are having medical tests conducted to check the function of the adrenal glands should inform the doctor who is conducting the examination that they are taking this drug, as there is a possibility that the active ingredient in this medicine can interfere with the test results.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Noflam (Naproxen) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:
