Protection for the skin against UVA and UVB light | Actinica Lotion | Actinica Lotion |
Uses
Actinica Lotion offers a very broad spectrum of protection against the UV rays of the sun. It is used to reduce the risk of skin cancer in people who may be in danger of this. Daily application of this lotion has demonstrated effectiveness in the prevention of squamous cell carcinoma and actinic keratosis. In addition to this, it may also help to prevent against skin ageing.
UVA and UVB rays are emitted by the sun, and can damage skin cells and the immune system. This could eventually lead to skin cancer. Various UV filters are combined in this lotion, to help protect against this. When applied, it can help to deflect UV radiation, offering protection against the skin. People who have a weaker than normal immune system or who have previously been affected by skin cancer may be especially at risk of skin damage from the sun, and should always take steps to prevent exposure and protect their skin.
Dosage and Administration
Actinica Lotion is applied topically, to any part of the skin that will be exposed. Your doctor will tell you how many pumps are needed in order to protect your skin. Generally, patients will be told to apply a minimum of 2 pumps to the face and forearms. A minimum of 1 pump should be used on the back of the hands, the chest, neck and the scalp (if it has no hair on it). Ensure that you apply the right amount to each area of the body, and remember that your doctor may tell you to use more lotion than the amount recommended here. In general, the lotion should be applied in the morning. If you need to apply any cosmetic products, ensure that you allow the lotion to be fully absorbed into the skin first.
Side effects
Actinica Lotion could cause irritation or symptoms similar to sunburn to appear on the skin. If this happens, your doctor may advise that you discontinue use of it. Should any serious side effects occur, ensure that you get medical help straight away.
Precautions
In addition to using this protective sunscreen, people at risk of skin cancer may be advised to take other precautions, including avoiding excess exposure to the sun, especially between 10am and 4pm.
