Uses
Azee 200 (Azithromycin) is an antibiotic suspension for oral administration which is often used to treat ear infections such as acute otitis media (middle ear infection). Its active component is a type of macrolide antibiotic belonging to a subclass referred to as azalides. Other inactive ingredients are also contained. Its mechanism of action against the bacteria is the inhibition of protein synthesis.

This is achieved by attaching to the main area of bacteria protein production (called the ribosome), thereby halting any more protein from being synthesised. By causing a lack of vital proteins from being produced, the bacteria are denied the essential substances needed to continue growing, allowing for the immune system to destroy the infection. Healing of the infection may follow this. Other conditions for which it has been used include pharyngitis and tonsillitis occurring as a result of streptococcus pyogenes, however it is not a first line treatment for these conditions.

Dosage and Administration
Azee 200 (Azithromycin) suspension is administered by mouth. A special dosing spoon is provided so that the correct amount can be accurately and easily measured. Dosing will be as per the schedule determined by the doctor in charge of medical treatment. A set amount of daily doses are usually needed to continue for a predetermined course of treatment. Even though symptoms may appear to get better, the full course needs to be finished (unless a doctor decides otherwise). This will prevent the infection from returning and will ensure that the infection is fully treated.

Side effects
Azee 200 (Azithromycin) could cause:

• Nausea
• Diarrhoea
• Feeling dizzy
• Stomach discomfort
• Soreness in the abdomen

A doctor should be made aware of any side effects that occur. Certain reactions could be of a serious nature and will need immediate medical care. Examples of side effects which will require the attention of a doctor straight away include severe and persistent diarrhoea, skin blistering, discolouration of the urine, weak muscles, low energy levels and other reactions that have not been listed here.

Precautions
Shake the bottle well prior to administration.

Every effort should be made to ensure that the dosage is taken at the same time each day.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Azee 200 (Azithromycin) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:
