Uses
Ciplox (Ciprofloxacin) belongs to a class of drugs called fluorouquinolones. It is an antibiotic which is prescribed by doctors to treat or prevent many different types of bacterial infections. It fights the bacteria by preventing them from reproducing or repairing themselves, which leads to their destruction, thereby treating the infection.

This medicine is considered effective against a broad range of bacteria, and is particularly effective against gram-negative bacteria. Bacterial infections of the lungs, ear, nose, throat, urinary tract, intestines, as well as other parts of the body are all treated with this medicine. In some cases, people who have been exposed to anthrax may be given this medicine to prevent anthrax.

Dosage and Administration
Patients who have been prescribed Ciplox (Ciprofloxacin) must listen carefully to the instructions given by their doctor, and only take the prescribed amount. Anthrax prophylaxis or treatment may require a dose of 500mg, taken every 12 hours, with treatment lasting for 60 days.

It is possible that patients treating granuloma inguinale may be told to take 750mg orally, twice per day, for at least 3 weeks. Treatment is usually continued until all the lesions have disappeared. Severe or complicated pneumonia is sometimes treated with 750mg, taken by mouth every 12 hours, for a period of 7 to 14 days (however, mild or moderate pneumonia generally requires a lower dosage). In all cases, a full medical consultation is required in order to determine the correct dosage.

Patients who are affected by a condition called myasthenia gravis should not take this drug, as there is a possibility that a worsening of the condition may occur.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.
