Uses
Cyclopent Eye Drops (Cyclopentolate HCL) are used for different types of eye examinations, such as paediatric eye exams and refraction exams. These drops are applied to the eye, to dilate the pupil, so as to make it easier for the doctor to properly examine the eye. In addition to this, it can be used to test cyclopegic refraction (a type of vision test), and it may also be used to aid treatment of iritis, uveitis and other inflammatory conditions affecting the eye.
Dosage and Administration
Cyclopent Eye Drops (Cyclopentolate HCL) are generally administered on the instruction of a doctor or eye specialist. In most cases, one drop is administered to the eye or eyes due to be examined, about 40 minutes before the exam is due to take place. If it is required, the doctor performing the exam will administer a second drop to the eye or eyes, 15 minutes after the first. Patients who are treating inflammatory conditions should follow the instructions given by their doctor.
Side effects
Cyclopent Eye Drops (Cyclopentolate HCL) can sometimes cause patients to show signs of side effects, such as:
Tell your doctor about any side effects which occur. Serious side effects can occur, (and in some cases, this may happen within 1 to 2 days of being treated with these eye drops). You will need medical care straight away if you notice hallucinations, blurred vision lasting for more than 48 hours, a tingling sensation under the skin or any other signs of a severe reaction.
Precautions
This solution is only for use in the eyes, and should never be swallowed. If accidental ingestion occurs, immediate medical attention will be required.
Do not drive if your vision is blurred or if your eyes have become sensitive to light as a result of using these eye drops.
Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.
Always use Cyclopent Eye Drops (Cyclopentolate HCL) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.
