Uses
Dipentum (Olsalazine) is given to patients suffering from ulcerative colitis. This medication is considered effective at treating the symptoms this condition can cause, such as inflammation of the bowel, pain in the stomach, diarrhoea, bleeding of the rectum and other tissue damage. The main ingredient in this medicine is a type of anti-inflammatory drug, and it treats the symptoms of ulcerative colitis by preventing the production of natural substances called prostaglandins, which can cause pain and inflammation. Another use for this drug is treating Crohn's disease.

Dosage and Administration
If you are taking Dipentum (Olsalazine) capsules to treat ulcerative colitis or any other condition, it is necessary to follow the dosage instructions given to you by the prescribing doctor. Doctors generally instruct patients to take it 2 times per day at 12 hour intervals. It is best if it is taken with food, so as to avoid stomach upset. Never exceed the prescribed dosage.

Side effects
Some patients who take Dipentum (Olsalazine) may experience side effects, such as:

• Blurred vision
• An upset stomach
• A reduction or loss of appetite
• Pain affecting the muscles or joints
