Hair loss in men and an enlarged prostate | Finasteride | F-Pecia |
Uses
F-Pecia (Finasteride) is a widely used male pattern hair loss treatment which may stop balding, and promote the growth of new hair. By preventing DHT (a hormone) from being formed on the scalp, this drug may prevent the hair follicles from further shrinkage, which generally results in hair regrowth or the prevention of further balding. This has been shown in clinical trials conducted by dermatologists.
DHT can also contribute to enlargement of the prostate gland. Adult males with BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) may experience urination problems resulting from an enlarged prostate gland pressing against the bladder. As this medicine blocks the conversion of testosterone into DHT, it can also cause a reduction in size of an enlarged prostate, resulting in a reduction of pressure against the bladder and the relief of BPH symptoms.
Dosage and Administration
Men undergoing treatment with F-Pecia (Finasteride) for male pattern baldness must strictly adhere to the dosage regimen prescribed by their doctor. The dosage that doctors tell patients to take is usually 1mg per day. Continued use of the medicine is needed in order to maintain the benefits. If you experience regrowth of hair as a result of treatment, and you discontinue taking the medicine, the newly regrown hair will be lost within 12 months. Patients treating an enlarged prostate are usually instructed to take 5mg per day.
