Uses
Imigran (Sumatriptan) is a type of drug commonly referred to as a triptan. However, it is also known as a serotonin agonist. This medicine is a painkiller, which is used to provide relief from the throbbing pain caused by migraine headaches. When taken, this drug acts fast, and treats the headache by narrowing the blood vessels in the brain.
Dosage and Administration
Imigran (Sumatriptan) comes as 100mg tablets. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine, to determine whether or not it is suitable for you. Your doctor will also provide you with concise instructions with regard to dosage. The medicine is taken as soon as you notice a migraine attack occurring. Generally, adults are told to take one 50mg tablet. However, certain patients may require a dosage of 100mg. If your migraine returns, your doctor may tell you that you can take a second tablet at least 2 hours after the first tablet. However, you will be told that you can never take more than 300mg in any 24 hour period.

Precautions

If you have a history of seizures or Raynaud's disease, tell your doctor before taking this medicine.
