Dosage and Administration

The dosage depends on whether it is taken to prevent malaria or to treat a malaria infection. Patients preventing malaria are normally told to start taking it 1 to 2 days before visiting an area where malaria infection is possible. It is necessary to continue taking it for the entire duration of the trip and for at least another 7 days after returning. However, patients who are treating malaria are normally directed to take it every day for 3 days. Remember to continue taking it for the entire length of time for which it has been prescribed.
