Uses
Ospamox (Amoxicillin) is a semisynthetic penicillin antibiotic medicine with a broad spectrum of activity against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria. However, it will not work for infections caused by microorganisms which produce beta-lactamase, as they can cause its degradation. Its absorption is considered to be better than that of other similar antibiotic medications.
Because of this it has been widely used for otitis media, pharyngitis caused by bacteria, salmonella, lyme disease, urinary tract infections, typhoid and many other conditions as deemed necessary by your doctor. This medicine's mode of action involves interfering with the ability of the bacteria's biosynthesis of bacterial cell walls. It achieves this by blocking the cross linkage of substances which the bacteria use to form the essential components of cell walls, resulting in a weakening of the cells. This damages the bacteria and leads to treatment of the infection.
Dosage and Administration
Ospamox (Amoxicillin) comes in the form of a powder for oral suspension. The dosage and period of treatment can vary greatly for patients depending on the particular type of infection that is being treated and the severity of symptoms. When this medicine is reconstituted, each 5ml will contain 125mg of the active ingredient. Patients are generally instructed to use 94ml of water to produce 100ml of the medicine. Once the substance has been made into a suspension, it should be used up within 14 days. During treatment, it is essential to take the exact amount your doctor tells you to take. Unless told otherwise, antibiotic treatment requires completing the full course of medicine.
