Uses
Posmeal MD (Voglibose) is an alpha-glycosidase inhibitor and is used to reduce the blood glucose level after a meal in patients with diabetes. Posmeal MD (Voglibose) contains glucose absorption, thereby decreasing the risks of macrovascular complications. Hyperglycemia is mostly related to the first phase of insulin release. Alpha-glycosidase inhibitors suppress glucose absorption in the intestines, preventing sharp increases in glucose levels after a meal. This group of medications includes Acarbose, Miglitol, and Voglibose. Voglibose is the most recent medication in the group. It has more side effects when compared to Acarbose and Miglitol, however it is more effective. There have been a few studies, supporting the idea of using Voglibose for hyperglycemia after meals. Moreover, it has been discovered that it is hyperglycemia after meals and not fasting blood glucose level is the marker of diabetes-related cardiovascular disorders.
