Uses
Procalut (Bicalutamide), also called Casodex, Cosudex, Calutide or Kalumid, is used to treat metastatic prostate cancer. It is a non-steroidal anti-androgen that is used as monotherapy or part of comination therapy along with a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist. Bicalutamide inhibits androgrens (male sex hormones) and reduces the amount of androgens produced by the body. Prostate cancer cells require these androgens to grow and spread.

Dosage and Administration
Procalut (Bicalutamide) is a tablet that should be swallowed whole. If taken in combination with a luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone, both medicines should be stared at the same time. Continue with treatment for as long as specified by your doctor. Do not stop taking Bicalutamide if you begin to feel better.

Side effects
Procalut (Bicalutamide) my result in some unwanted side effects. These usually go away after a little time. The most commonly reported side effects are:

• dizziness, excessive sleepiness or tiredness
• nausea, vomiting, indigestion, diarrhea
• constipation, abdominal pain, wind or gas
• depression
• breast tenderness, breast enlargement(gynaecomastia)
• hot flushes
• dry or itchy skin
• loss of libido and erectile dysfunction
• changes to hair thickness
• loss of appetite
• weight gain or weight loss

Any of the below side effects may suggest are reaction to Procalut (Bicalutamide). If any of the below occur, let your doctor know immediately:

• yellowing of the skin or eyes
• pain in the upper right part of the stomach
• extreme tiredness
• unusual bleeding or bruising
• lack of energy
• upset stomach
• loss of appetite
• flu-like symptoms
• dull or sharp side pain
• chest pain

Precautions
Procalut (Bicalutamide) must not be handled by pregnant women. It can cause harm to the fetus. Baclutamide is to be used by men only. If you have liver problems or a history of liver problems, you may not be able to take Bicalutamide. Tell you doctor of any allergies and any medicines you are currently taking.
