Uses
Procalut (Bicalutamide), also called Casodex, Cosudex, Calutide or Kalumid, is used to treat metastatic prostate cancer. It is a non-steroidal anti-androgen that is used as monotherapy or part of comination therapy along with a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist. Bicalutamide inhibits androgrens (male sex hormones) and reduces the amount of androgens produced by the body. Prostate cancer cells require these androgens to grow and spread.
Dosage and Administration
Procalut (Bicalutamide) is a tablet that should be swallowed whole. If taken in combination with a luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone, both medicines should be stared at the same time. Continue with treatment for as long as specified by your doctor. Do not stop taking Bicalutamide if you begin to feel better.
