Radanil

Uses
Radanil (Benznidazol) (sometimes spelled benznidazole) is indicated for the treatment of a condition known as Chagas disease. This disease is caused by a parasite that may be spread in a number of ways, such as through certain types of insects (known as triatomes). It occurs commonly in South America and Central America.

Symptoms of the acute phase of this disease can include fever, appetite loss and vomiting, however, in some cases, the infection may remain in the body for a long period of time, possibly without symptoms. The chronic phase of the disease may then occur, which can result in serious symptoms. Doctors prescribe this medicine, which is an antiparasitic drug to treat this condition, and it is considered most effective if used in the acute phase.

Dosage and Administration
Radanil (Benznidazol) comes in the form of tablets, which need to be administered exactly as directed by the doctor who is providing medical care. This medicine comes as 100mg tablets, which are taken by mouth. Doctors usually prescribe the correct dosage based on the weight of the patient, and it is possible that 2 divided doses per day will be required. Treatment may need to continue for 60 days or as deemed necessary by the doctor.

Side effects
Patients treated with Radanil (Benznidazol) may experience side effects, such as:

• Nausea
• Dermatitis
• Loss of weight
• Problems related to sleep
• Peripheral neuropathy

Other side effects which have not been mentioned here may also occur. All side effects must be reported to a doctor. It is also possible that some of the side effects listed above may be serious and require treatment immediately, and other serious side effects that also need medical care as soon as possible may occur.

Precautions
Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Radanil (Benznidazol) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you suffer from any allergies.
• If you suffer from any other health conditions or illnesses.
• If you are using any other medicine (including all non-prescription).
• If you are using any supplements, vitamins, or herbal products of any kind.
