Uses
Regaine (Minoxidil) is a hair loss treatment that is recommended for men who are affected by androgenic alopecia. It is considered most effective if used when the hair has started to fall out recently, however, men with a receding hairline may also use it. When applied topically to the scalp, it helps to increase the flow of blood to the hair follicles, which results in an increase in the size of the follicle. This helps to visibly promote the growth of new hair on the scalp. It has also been proven to help stop the balding process in 4 out of 5 men who used it.
Dosage and Administration
Patients using Regaine (Minoxidil) for male pattern baldness must carefully follow the instructions given by their doctor. In most cases, patients are directed to apply a dose of 1ml to the scalp, twice per day, once in the morning and again in the evening (approximately 30 minutes before bedtime). The scalp should be dry when applying the product, and it is important to allow the solution to dry before going to bed or applying any hair styling products.
Patients should note that during the initial few weeks of treatment, the amount of hair shed may increase. However, this is a sign that the older hairs are being lost so as to allow newer ones to take their place. With continued use, new hair growth should be noticed (it may take as long as 16 weeks for this to occur). Visit your doctor if you are concerned about shedding hair or if no improvement is noticed in your condition.
