Uses
ThyroFit 25 contains the active ingredient Thyroxine Sodium. It is used to treat hypothyroidism, a disease in which the thyroid gland is underactive and does not produce enough thyroxine. Thyroxine is an important hormone for controlling the body's metabolism. Hypothyroidism can result in feelings of tiredness and muscle weakness, cramps, sensitivity to the cold, a slow heart rate, dry and flaky skin, hair loss, voice changes and weight gain.
Dosage and Administration
ThyroFit dosages are usually based on your weight. Your doctor will be able to prescribe you a specific does. In most people, a dosage of 50mg - 100mg is prescribed. This can be increased gradually while your thyroid levels are being monitored, until suitable levels are reached. You should not exceed 200mg per day.
Thyroxine is usually taken for a prolonged period. Follow directions given by your doctor. Do not stop taking ThyroFit just because you are feeling better.
ThyroFit tablets are usually taken at least 30 minutes before your first meal of the day. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Side effects
Some side effects that have been reported with use of Thyroxine include:
Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any signs of allergy to Thyroxine such as severe skin rash, itching, hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, fever, low blood pressure.
Precautions
Tell your doctor of any medicines you are taking before taking ThyroFit. Some medicines will interact with Thyroxine, particularly:

Tell your doctor any any other health problems you have in particular diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, osteoporosis and underactive adrenal glands.
