Triomune is a combination HIV medicine containing three different antiretroviral agents - Stavudine, Lamivudine and Nevirapine. Triomune is used to treat Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection in adults.
Triomune is prescribed to treat Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection in adults. The combination of three different antiretroviral drugs (stavudine, lamivudine and nevirapine) slows the progression of the virus by inhibiting the action of the viral-specific enzyme reverse transcriptase (RT).
Dosage and Administration
Triomune is packaged as a box of 30 tablets. Each tablet contains three different antiretroviral drugs:
Each tablet of Triomune contains half of the recommended dosages of each individual active ingredient. Taking one tablet twice daily will provided the recommended daily dose of Stavudine, Lamivudine and Nevirapine.
Continue to take Triomune for as long as recommended by your doctor.
Side effects
Use of antiretroviral agents like those found in Triomune can occasionally lead to fatal cases of lactic acidosis. Signs yo umay be developing lactic acisosis can include nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, loss of appetite, weight loss, or muscle weakness. Tell your doctor if you notice any of these side effects while taking Triomune.

Precautions
Do not take Triomune if you have ever had an allergic reaction to any of the active ingredients (stavudine / lamivudine / nevirapine).
Triomune must not be taken if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.
Do not take Triomune if you have kidney or liver disease.
Triomune should only be taken if you have received previous treatment for HIV and specifically treatment with nevirapine.
