Uses
X-Vir (Entecavir) is prescribed as a treatment for chronic hepatitis B. This drug is a type of medicine referred to as a nucleoside analogue. It works by inhibiting the action of the enzyme that the hepatitis virus needs to multiply. This also helps to reduce the volume of the hepatitis B virus in the patient's body, which can help to reduce damage to the liver, while also improving its function.

Dosage and Administration
Patients who have been prescribed X-Vir (Entecavir) must strictly follow the dosage instructions given to them by their doctor. It is possible that you will be told to take it once per day. Each dose should be taken on an empty stomach. You should take it either 2 hours before you eat, or else 2 hours after eating. Regular medical appointments may be scheduled for you by your doctor, to check your liver function. It is essential that you attend all scheduled medical appointments.

Side effects
Taking X-Vir (Entecavir) tablets may cause some patients to experience side effects, such as:

• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Stomach upset
• Difficulty sleeping
• Temporary loss of hair

Serious side effects may occur in a small number of patients. You must immediately see your doctor if you notice severe nausea, appetite loss, fever or any other signs of a serious reaction.

Precautions
If you suffer from HIV or kidney disease, you must tell this to your doctor before taking this medicine.

There is a slight risk that taking this medicine can cause a serious condition called lactic acidosis. Ask your doctor about this before you start taking this medicine.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use X-Vir (Entecavir) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:
