Abel-40 (Azilsartan Medoxomil) 40mg is a drug for lowering high blood pressure. It belongs to the category of angiotensin II receptor antagonists (AT1 subtype). The drug is used to treat essential (primary) arterial hypertension. Blockade of AT1 receptors prevents the development of the effects of angiotensin II mediated by these receptors, which prevents the adverse effect of angiotensin II on vascular tone and is accompanied by a decrease in elevated blood pressure.
Always follow your doctor`s instructions when using Abel-40 (Azilsartan Medoxomil) to get the safest and most effective results from treatment. The recommended initial dose is 40 mg once a day. If it is necessary to further reduce blood pressure, the dose of the drug can be increased to 80 mg (2 tablets) once a day. The maximum daily dose is 80 mg. In the case of inadequate control of blood pressure in monotherapy with Abel-40 (Azilsartan Medoxomil), its simultaneous use with other antihypertensive drugs, including diuretics and dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers, is possible.

Pregnancy: The drug should not be used by pregnant women or women planning to become pregnant. If pregnancy is confirmed during treatment, Abel-40 (Azilsartan Medoxomil) use should be discontinued immediately and replaced with another medicinal product authorized for use in pregnant women. There are no data on the use of azilsartan medoxomil in pregnant women. Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicity.
Breast-feeding: Azilsartan medoxomil is not recommended for use in breast-feeding due to lack of appropriate data. During breastfeeding, it is advisable to initiate alternative treatment with a more advanced safety profile, especially when feeding a newborn or preterm infant.
Fertility: There are no data on the effect of azilsartan medoxomil on human reproductive function. According to preclinical studies, azilsartan did not affect the reproductive function of female and male rats.
