Brufen Retard

Uses
Brufen SR (Ibuprofen) is used to provide relief from pain and inflammation. Patients have used it to relieve pain caused by injuries, toothaches, headaches, muscular aches, arthritis, menstrual pain and other causes. It may sometimes be used for the flu. This drug is called a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and it treats pain by stopping the production of the substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation, known as prostaglandins.

Dosage and Administration
Brufen SR (Ibuprofen) tablets contain 800mg of the active ingredient. Patients treating osteoarthritis are sometimes told by their doctor to take 400mg to 800mg at 6 to 8 hour intervals. Other conditions may need a different dosage, and patients must always follow the dosage instructions given by their doctor.

Side effects
Brufen SR (Ibuprofen) may cause:

• Itchy skin
• Constipation
• Blurry eyesight
• Dizzy sensation
• Hearing a ringing noise

It is possible that serious side effects will occur in some patients. You must immediately see your doctor if you notice a sudden increase in weight, blistering of the skin, fever, pale skin, pain in the eyes or any other serious symptoms.

Precautions
If you experience signs of stomach bleeding, you must visit your doctor straight away.

Your doctor may advise you not to drink alcohol while taking this drug, as it can put you at an increased risk of stomach bleeding.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Brufen SR (Ibuprofen) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you suffer from any allergies.
• If you suffer from any other health conditions or illnesses.
• If you are using any other medicine (including all non-prescription).
• If you are using any supplements, vitamins, or herbal products of any kind.
