Uses
Copegus (Ribavirin) is an antiviral medicine which is used as a treatment for Hepatitis C infection. The active ingredient, ribavirin, is a type of nucleoside analogue, and must be used on combination with interferon alfa or peginterferon alfa for it to be effective. Taking this medication causes a decrease in the amount of hepatitis C RNA in the patient's body, thereby leading to a reduced amount of damage done to the liver, while also helping to improve the function of the liver.
Dosage and Administration
Copegus (Ribavirin) comes in the form of tablets, each of which contain 200mg of the active ingredient. You will be given clear and concise instructions with regard to dosage, and it is important that you listen carefully to your doctor's directions. Treatment may last for 24 to 48 weeks (or as your doctor deems necessary).
