Uses
Duolin (Salbutamol/Ipratropium Bromide) is a metered dose inhaler which combines two active ingredients into one medication. Conditions it is used to treat include COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), emphysema and other related medical conditions. Some patients may also use it to treat asthma. This drug is prescribed as part of a regular treatment schedule to prevent breathing difficulties in patients suffering from respiratory diseases.
The first active ingredient is known as Salbutamol, and it works by stimulating the beta 2 receptors in the lungs. This results in the airways relaxing, and opening up, thereby making it easier for the patient to breathe. Ipratropium bromide is also added, and it acts in the lungs to prevent the airways from contracting. The combined action of these ingredients makes it easier to breathe for patients who are affected by the medical conditions mentioned above.
Dosage and Administration
Duolin (Salbutamol/Ipratropium Bromide) is administered via oral inhalation. You can refer to the packaging or ask your doctor for a full detailed description on how to properly administer it. Before you use the inhaler, you should shake it. It may also be necessary to prime the inhaler. This is done by pressing down on the canister and spraying some test sprays into the air. After this, insert the inhaler into your mouth, press down on the canister, while simultaneously breathing in. If your doctor has told you to administer 2 puffs, you should wait 2 minutes, and then repeat the process described above. When prescribing this inhaler for you, your doctor will tell you how often to use it. Follow all instructions provided to you, and never administer more than the prescribed amount of sprays.
