Uses
Fabulas (Febuxostat) is used by patients to treat gout, a condition which causes pain, inflammation and redness in the joints. These symptoms are caused by a build up of uric acid crystals in the joints. The active ingredient in this medication is a type of xanthine oxidase inhibitor, and it works by blocking the action of a certain enzyme in the body (xanthine oxidase). As this enzyme is responsible for producing uric acid, stopping its action helps contribute to a reduction in uric acid levels, which in turn can help to prevent gout attacks.

Dosage and Administration
A visit to your doctor is necessary before taking Fabulas (Febuxostat) tablets. Adults are sometimes directed to take an initial dose consisting of 40mg per day. Your doctor may adjust your dosage, and in most cases, the maintenance dose ranges from 40mg to 80mg per day. Never take more than the amount your doctor prescribes for you.

Side effects
Patients taking Fabulas (Febuxostat) tablets may sometimes experience side effects, such as:

• Nausea
• Headache
• Sore joints
• Spinning sensation
• Stiffness affecting the joints

Tell the prescribing doctor about any side effects which occur. It is necessary to seek medical attention straight away if you experience weakness affecting the limbs, visual disturbances, problems related to balance or any other side effects.

Precautions
Before treatment can begin, patients must inform their doctor if they are currently affected by or have ever had a transplanted organ, a stroke, diseases affecting the liver, kidneys or heart, Lesch-Nyhan syndrome or cancer.

Blood tests will be necessary, both before and during treatment, to test the function of your liver.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Fabulas (Febuxostat) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you suffer from any allergies.
• If you suffer from any other health conditions or illnesses.
• If you are using any other medicine (including all non-prescription).
• If you are using any supplements, vitamins, or herbal products of any kind.
