Uses
Hydrocortisone (Hydrocortisone) is a corticosteroid hormone derived from natural hormones produced by the body (aldosterone and cortisol). Certain conditions, such as Addison's disease cause low levels of corticosteroid hormones. Because corticosteroids are important for the functioning of the body, a low level of these hormones can cause symptoms such as muscular pain, dizziness and a lack of energy. Severe cases may even lead to the patient collapsing or dying. This medicine works by replacing the body's natural hormones.
Dosage and Administration
Corticosteroid replacement therapy requires a specific dosage of Hydrocortisone (Hydrocortisone) which will vary for each patient. A medical assessment will be required to ascertain the required dosage. Other conditions may also be treated with this medication, such as asthma, arthritis, immune system disorders and various other conditions. Patients taking this drug to prevent inflammation may be told to take anything from 15mg to 240mg per day. All patients taking this drug may have their dosage adjusted by the prescribing doctor from time to time. It is very important to follow any instructions provided by your doctor.
