Uses
Wysolone (Prednisolone) is a corticosteroid which works by exhibiting metabolic effects and modifying how the body responds to certain stimuli. It is used in the treatment of many different medical disorders, including disorders affecting the organ systems and adrenocortical deficiency. Conditions treated include arthritis, joint pain, osteoarthritis, bursitis, systemic lupus erythematosus and other collagen diseases, exfoliative dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, allergies, asthma, conditions affecting the eyes, neoplastic and hematologic disorders and many other illnesses that have not been mentioned here.

This medicine's anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant properties are believed to be due to it inhibiting the activation of cells, which is achieved by preventing the cell stimulation signals from being transmitted through the cell membranes. In addition to this, further mediators of inflammation such as prostaglandins are prevented from being released. Other mechanisms of action are also exhibited.

Dosage and Administration
Wysolone (Prednisolone) tablets each contain 5mg of the active ingredient. The individual dosage can vary considerably for each individual due to the fact that the medicine is used for such a wide range of conditions. Because of this, the doctor will need to thoroughly assess the patient's symptoms so that the daily dosage can be individualized. The response to treatment may also need to be taken into account when the maintenance dosage is being calculated. In all cases, patients must strictly comply with all dosage instructions given to them by their doctor and never take more than the correct amount.

Side effects
Treatment with Wysolone (Prednisolone) may lead to some patients experiencing side effects, which could include:

• Insomnia
• Perspiration
• Acne or dry skin
• Thinner than normal skin
• Body fat changing location

It will be necessary to make the doctor providing treatment aware of all side effects that are noticed as a result of this medicine being taken. Although not considered extremely common, some patients may suffer from serious side effects, such as visual problems, inflammation, weight gain, seizures, pancreatitis and others not listed here. Go to the hospital or consult a doctor immediately if serious side effects occur.

Precautions
Sudden discontinuation of treatment could trigger withdrawal symptoms in patients. Your doctor may slowly reduce the dosage over a period of time in order to ensure that this does not happen.

This medicine can lower the function of the body's immune system, leaving the patient open to infections and other illnesses. Stay away from people who are infected with any fevers or viruses, and talk to your doctor about ways to avoid infection.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Wysolone (Prednisolone) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.
