Uses
Potrate 10 (Potassium Citrate) is indicated for the treatment and control of kidney stones caused by uric acid. It works by binding with the calcium that occurs in the urine, thereby blocking mineral crystals from forming. Another benefit is that it can prevent the formation of uric acid kidney stones or those caused by cystine. The active ingredient in this medicine is a type of natural mineral which occurs in foods. It plays a vital role in many bodily functions, including the regulation of acidity.
Some people have used it to treat conditions related to metabolism occurring as a result of kidney disease, such as acidosis and it has also been taken for the treatment of renal tubular acidosis. This ingredient has been the subject of much medical research, which found that it may be effective as a prophylaxis for recurrent calciumoxalate nephrolithiasis (calcium oxalate stones).
