Uses
Protecadin OD (Lafutidine) has a wide range of action in reducing the secretion of gastric acid and protecting the stomach against ulcers. Patients use it to treat gastric ulcers, stomal ulcers and duodenal ulcers. It is also used for gastric mucosal lesions occurring as a result of acute gastritis. In some cases, this medicine may be used as a pre-anaesthetic medication. Another benefit of treatment with this medicine is that it may help with the healing of a damaged gastric mucosal barrier.
Dosage and Administration
Protecadin OD (Lafutidine) tablets are administered by mouth. These tablets contain 5mg of the main ingredient, and patients must only take the amount of medicine that the doctor providing medical treatment instructs them to take. Patients treating ulcers are sometimes directed to take 10mg, twice per day. One tablet should be taken after the consumption of breakfast, and the next one should be taken after eating an evening meal or just before going to bed. If used for gastric mucosal lesions or before taking an anaesthetic medicine, the dosage regimen is different and the instructions of the doctor must be followed.
