Uses
Sebizole Shampoo (Ketoconazole) is a specially formulated medicinal shampoo which contains an antifungal medicine as its primary ingredient. Fungal and yeast infections of the scalp, such as seborrhoeic dermatitis, are effectively treated with this medicine, as well as dandruff. Some skin infections may also be treated, such as pityriasis versicolor. This shampoo works by damaging the cell membranes of the fungi, which eventually destroys it, thereby treating the infection.
Dosage and Administration
The application procedure for Sebizole Shampoo (Ketoconazole) can vary slightly, depending on why it is being used. For seborrhoeic dermatitis and dandruff, your doctor may instruct you to use the shampoo to wash your hair twice per week, with treatment required for 2 to 4 weeks. After successful treatment of these conditions, using the shampoo once every 1 to 2 weeks may prevent the return of symptoms. Patients treating pityriasis versicolor may need to wash the skin once per day, with treatment lasting for a maximum of 5 days.
