Uses
Sebizole Shampoo (Ketoconazole) is a shampoo which contains a broad spectrum antifungal agent as its main active ingredient. It is applied to the scalp to treat severe and persistent dandruff, and an inflammatory skin disorder called seborrhoeic dermatitis. This product works by preventing the fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol, which leads to the destruction of the fungi and eventual treatment of the infection. Other uses for this medicated shampoo include treating a fungal infection called pityriasis versicolor, and preventing and treating hair loss in male patients.
Dosage and Administration
Sebizole Shampoo (Ketoconazole) is applied directly to the scalp when used to treat dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis or hair loss. Ask your doctor for instructions on treatment. If using it for the conditions just mentioned, you will probably be told to wash your hair with the shampoo twice per week, for 2 to 4 weeks. After your symptoms have improved, use of the shampoo once every 1 to 2 weeks can help to prevent a return of symptoms. The application procedure for pityriasis versicolor is different. Patients use it to wash the skin, usually once per day for a maximum period of 5 days.
