Strattera

Uses
Strattera (Atomoxetine) works by increasing noradrenaline levels in the brain, and is used to treat attention deficit hyperactive disorder (more commonly referred to as ADHD). Treatment with this drug has been proven to control ADHD, and improve behaviour and concentration in patients affected by this condition. In addition to being given this drug, patients may also undergo counselling and behavioural therapy.

Dosage and Administration
Patients who have been diagnosed with ADHD and told by their doctor to take Strattera (Atomoxetine) as a treatment for their condition will be given precise dosage instructions by their doctor on the correct amount of medicine to take. These tablets contain 60mg of the active ingredient. Some patients will be instructed to start out by taking a low amount of medicine. The doctor will monitor the patient during treatment, and based on the response, the dosage may be adjusted.

Side effects
Patients who are undergoing treatment for ADHD with Strattera (Atomoxetine) may experience side effects, such as:

• Coughing
• Impotence
• Irritability
• Dizzy sensation
• Decreased appetite or weight

Side effects should be reported to a doctor. Immediate medical treatment will be needed if the patient experiences hallucinations, a prolonged erection, seizures, speech problems, weak limbs or any other serious reactions which have not been listed here.

Precautions
This drug may affect the growth rate of certain younger patients. Ask the doctor about this before medical treatment begins.

Severe liver problems have occurred in some patients treated with this drug. If any symptoms of liver problems occur, seek medical care immediately.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Strattera (Atomoxetine) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you suffer from any allergies.
• If you suffer from any other health conditions or illnesses.
• If you are using any other medicine (including all non-prescription).
• If you are using any supplements, vitamins, or herbal products of any kind.
