Uses
Tizan (Tizanidine) is a skeletal muscle relaxant, which is used for multiple sclerosis treatment. It may also be useful in treating other conditions, including injury to the spinal cord and diseases that affect the muscles. This medicine inhibits and blocks certain receptors in the spinal cord and brain, which leads to a reduction in nerve signals sent through the spinal cord to the muscles. Because of this, tension, stiffness and contraction can be greatly reduced in the muscles, which can lead to an increase in the mobility of patients affected by multiple sclerosis and other medical conditions.
Dosage and Administration
Your doctor will examine you and prescribe the correct dosage of Tizan (Tizanidine) for you. Treating muscle spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis or injuries to the spinal cord may require 4mg taken once per day. However, the required dosage may be different for some patients, and it is also common for patients to be told to take it 3 times per day, with an interval of 6 to 8 hours in between doses. Your doctor may increase your dosage from time to time in order to achieve optimum results. Remember that the effects of this drug are usually noticed 1 to 6 hours after taking it.
