Uses
Urorec (Silodosin) is indicated for benign prostatic hyperplasia. This condition is more common in older men, and is caused by the prostate growing larger and causing compression of the urethra. As a result of this, the flow of urine becomes obstructed, leading to urinary incontinence, frequent urination, a weak flow of urine and other related symptoms. Patients may require medical treatment in order to provide relief from urinary problems caused by this condition.

The active ingredient in this medicine is known as an alpha-adrenergic blocker, and it causes the relaxation of muscles in the prostate and bladder, which can lead to improved urination in patients with BPH. However, it is worth noting that this medicine will not decrease the size of the prostate. Some patients have used this medicine to help them pass kidney stones, and medical trials have been conducted to research the benefits if used as a premature ejaculation treatment.

Dosage and Administration
Urorec (Silodosin) comes in the form of 8mg tablets. After careful examination of the patient, which may include a urine test in order to diagnose the condition, the doctor will be able to determine a suitable dosage regimen for the patient. Doctors sometimes recommend a dosage consisting of 8mg, taken once per day. The tablet should be taken with food and swallowed whole alongside a glass of water.

Side effects
Patients taking Urorec (Silodosin) to treat urination problems caused by an enlarged prostate may notice some side effects, such as:

• Nasal congestion
• Ejaculation problems
• Reduced blood pressure

Precautions
