Uses
Ventolin Inhaler (Salbutamol) is used by patients as an asthma treatment, which is designed to prevent or treat bronchospasms. The active ingredient in this medicine is fast acting, and belongs to a group of medicines called bronchodilators. When inhaled, it can help to open up the air passages to the lungs, and relieve coughing, wheezing or chest tightness, which makes it easier for the patient to breathe. In some cases, this asthma inhaler may be used to prevent bronchospasms caused by exercise, or to treat other breathing conditions.
Dosage and Administration
Ventolin Inhaler (Salbutamol) is sometimes prescribed as a reliever, to provide quick relief during an asthma attack or to treat breathing difficulties caused by exercise or triggers such as pollen or dust. Your doctor will most likely tell you to carry your inhaler with you at all times, and to ensure that it is not empty. If using it to prevent exercise induced bronchospasms, your doctor may tell you to take 2 doses 15 to 30 minutes before you start exercise. You will also be told when else to take it, if required, and how many doses you need to take.
