Uses
Viraday (Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate/Emtricitabine/Efavirenz) is a treatment for HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) in adults. Viraday is a combination retroviral containing Tenofovir (300mg), Emtricitabine (200mg) and Efavirenz (600mg). These are the generic names for Viread, Emtriva and Sustiva.Viraday is prescribed to treat retroviruses (RNA viruses) such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). It works by inhibiting the viral-specific enzyme reverse transcriptase that causes the virus to replicate.
Dosage and Administration
Viraday (Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate/Emtricitabine/Efavirenz) is usually one tablet per day taken on an empty stomach. Take the dosage prescribed to you and continue for as long as recommended. Taking the tablets at bedtime can improve tolerance of nervous system adverse effects.
Side effects
Viraday (Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate/Emtricitabine/Efavirenz) can result in some unwanted side effects, especially at the beginning of treatment. Many side effects will be minor and temporary. The most common side effects of Viraday are:
A very rare, but potentially fatal adverse effect of Viraday is lactic acidosis, a build up of lactic acid in the blood due to liver damage, liver enlargement or fatty deposits in the liver. This can lead to liver failure, kidney failure or pancreatits, and even fatality if left untreated.
