Uses
Zithromac (Azithromycin Hydrate) is an antibiotic prescribed to treat patients with infections ranging from mild to moderate in nature, when the symptoms are caused by microorganisms that are susceptible to it (bacteria). It is commonly used for chlamydia and other sexually transmitted diseases, and patients have also been given it to treat pneumonia, otitis media (inner ear infection), skin infections, lung infections, sinus infections and many other bacterial infections. In addition to this, doctors have administered it to patients as a treatment for mycobacteria (MAC), a severe infection.
Dosage and Administration
Patients taking Zithromac (Azithromycin Hydrate) will be told by their doctor how much to take. Adults treating disseminated MAC infections may be told to take 600mg (one tablet) per day. The patient may also be instructed by the doctor to take other medicines to treat their condition. If it is used to prevent disseminated MAC infections, it is likely that the doctor providing treatment will tell the patient to take 1200mg, once per week.
