Uses
Abilify (Aripiprazole) is used to treat mental disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder (sometimes referred to as manic depression) and major depressive disorder in adult patients. Some medical specialists have prescribed it to patients affected by autism, to relieve aggression and other behaviour related issues.
When used as a schizophrenia treatment, this medicine has been shown to relieve hallucinations, delusional behaviour, aggression, emotional problems, strange thoughts as well as other symptoms. It has been suggested by medical experts that this medicine helps to stabilise the activity of a neurotransmitter called dopamine in the brain, which can lead to relief from symptoms of the conditions that have been listed above.
Dosage and Administration
Patients who are being treated with Abilify (Aripiprazole) must strictly follow the dosage regimen that their doctor tells them to take. Schizophrenia patients are sometimes told by a doctor to start out with an initial dose which may consist of 10mg to 15mg, taken once per day. After this, the doctor may adjust the patient's dosage and prescribe a dosage which can range from 10mg to 30mg, taken once per day. The dosage for depression, bipolar disorder or any other condition can vary from patient to patient, and patients need to adhere to their doctor's instructions.
