Uses
Accarb (Acarbose) is used by patients with type 2 diabetes, to control the levels of sugar in the blood. It is taken with meals, so as to prevent a rise in glucose (sugar), which can commonly occur after eating in diabetic patients. This is achieved by slowing down the release of sugar into the blood. Treatment with this drug generally involves a special diet and exercise plan, as well as other measures to control diabetes.

Dosage and Administration
Accarb (Acarbose) tablets are taken by mouth, with the first bite of each main meal. Follow the instructions given to you by your doctor. In some cases, adult patients treating type 2 diabetes have been instructed to start out with an initial dose of 25mg, taken 3 times per day. The prescribing doctor may decide to adjust this regimen, and prescribe a maintenance dose consisting of 50mg to 100mg 3 times per day. It is essential that all directions provided by the prescribing doctor are strictly followed.
