Uses
Aerius (Desloratadine) is a non-sedating antihistamine used for treating allergy symptoms (such as hay fever, year-round allergic rhinitis and urticaria). This medication works by inhibiting the action of a natural chemical called histamine (which causes allergy symptoms). It achieves this by blocking histamine's ability to bind to its receptors. All of this provides effective relief from allergy symptoms, such as watery eyes, sneezing, runny nose and other related symptoms.

Dosage and Administration
Aerius (Desloratadine) comes in the form of tablets. Only take the amount prescribed by your doctor. In most cases, adults treating allergic rhinitis or urticaria are told to take 5mg per day. Patients should note that it is essential to follow all instructions provided by their doctor. Never take more than the prescribed dose, as this could be dangerous.

Side effects
Taking Aerius (Desloratadine) to treat allergies may cause side effects, such as:

• Sore throat
• Menstrual pain
• Dizzy sensation
• Hyperactive behaviour
• Dryness affecting the mouth

Tell your doctor if you feel unwell. Although this medicine is considered less likely to cause drowsiness when compared to other antihistamines, some patients may still feel drowsy. Severe reactions which require immediate medical may occur in rare cases. Ask your doctor for more details.

Precautions
If you become drowsy while taking this medication, do not drive or operate machinery.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.
