Uses
Aricept Evess (Donepezil Hydrochloride) is a type of drug referred to as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, which is widely used by patients suffering from dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease. Patients who suffer from Alzheimer's disease may have a reduced level of acetylcholine (a natural chemical which is believed to be important for the brain to function) in their brain. By causing an increase in the amount of this chemical in the brain, this medicine may help to improve reasoning skills, memory and the ability to function normally. However, it is not a cure for Alzheimer's, and it will not prevent these functions from being lost.
Dosage and Administration
Patients who have been prescribed Aricept Evess (Donepezil Hydrochloride) disintegrating tablets must strictly adhere to the dosage regimen prescribed by their doctor. These tablets may be placed on the tongue, after which they will disintegrate. The tablets may then be swallowed, either with or without water. Mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease is usually treated with a dosage of 5mg at first, however, the prescribing doctor may direct the patient to take 10mg per day.
