Uses
Azoran (Azathioprine) is classified as an immunosuppressive antimetabolite, and it works by suppressing the immune system activity. Although the immune system is important for protection against bacteria and infection, it may attack a transplanted organ.
In some cases, the body may attack or resist a new organ following a transplant, due to it being treated as an invader. However, by acting on the immune system it can help with the organ transplantation process by preventing organ rejection.
Azoran is also used for autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. Although its exact mode of action for this condition is not fully understood, experts believe that it is related to the suppression of immune system activity.
