Naprosyn SR

Uses
Naprosyn SR (Naproxen) is used for its pain relief properties, and is widely administered to patients affected by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and other related conditions, to reduce pain, stiffness and swelling. It is a type of NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), and it works by blocking prostaglandins (types of chemicals that cause pain and swelling).

Dosage and Administration
Naprosyn SR (Naproxen) comes as sustained release tablets, which are designed to allow the slow release of the medicine into the blood throughout the day. Your doctor will provide you with advice related to dosage, and will also tell you the correct amount of medicine to take. Adult patients are usually instructed by their doctor to take one tablet per day. It is best if the tablets are taken with food, or immediately after eating, so as to prevent a stomach upset. The medicine should also be swallowed with a full glass of water.

Side effects
Patients taking Naprosyn SR (Naproxen) may experience side effects, such as:

• Gas
• Ringing in the ears
• Feeling thirsty
• Dizzy sensation
• A reduced desire to eat

A doctor should be informed if any side effects occur. You will need medical treatment immediately if you notice coughing up blood, visual problems, severe headache, hearing loss, weight gain or any other serious side effects which have not been listed here.

Precautions
This medicine may rarely cause bleeding from the stomach or intestines, which could be serious. Taking certain other drugs may increase the risk of this. Your doctor will discuss the risk of this with you before starting treatment.
