Uses
Bactroban Ointment (Mupirocin) is a monoxycarbolic acid antibiotic which is applied topically to the skin to treat bacterial infections such as impetigo, furuncle and wounds. It is also considered effective against a type of methicillin resistant bacteria called MRSA (staphylococcus aureus). This ointment works by interfering with the ability of the bacteria to produce essential proteins, causing them to make abnormal proteins, resulting in the destruction of the bacteria and the treatment of the infection.
