Uses
Eryacne Gel (Erythromycin) is used for its action against both anaerobic and aerobic gram positive bacteria, and may also be effective against certain gram negative bacilli. It is prescribed for the treatment of acne. In addition to its anti-inflammatory activity, this cream also prevents the ability of Propionibacterium acnes (the bacteria associated with acne) from spreading and growing, while also helping to control inflammation of the sebaceous glands. When used as directed, it can allow skin affected by acne vulgaris which is mild to moderate in nature to be healed.
Dosage and Administration
Eryacne Gel (Erythromycin) is used topically. In most cases, doctors recommend a period of treatment that lasts for 8 weeks, however, if the symptoms recur, treatment may need to continue for longer than this. Adults are normally told to rinse the skin prior to application, and to gently dry it. After this, the gel may be applied to the area of skin needing treatment. It is recommended that the gel is allowed to dry for a few minutes, so that it is not wiped off.

If you experience irritation of the skin at the application site, your doctor may tell you to reduce the frequency at which you use the gel, or else to stop treatment on a temporary or permanent basis.
