Uses
Canesten Vaginal Cream (Clotrimazole) is a type of azole antifungal cream used to treat vaginal yeast infections (vaginal thrush). It can help to provide relief from the symptoms of a yeast infection, such as burning, itchiness and vaginal discharge. The active ingredient in this cream treats the infection by preventing the yeast cells responsible for the infection from developing and growing. Doctors only prescribe this cream for treating fungal infections of the vagina. Patients affected by a bacterial vaginal infection must use another product to treat their condition.
Dosage and Administration
Canesten Vaginal Cream (Clotrimazole) is applied directly to the vagina, using the applicator. The length of treatment can vary, and will be determined by your doctor. Patients may be told to use it for 1 to 7 days, depending on the severity of their condition. The cream is usually applied once per day, just before going to bed. If you do not notice any improvement in your symptoms after using the product for 3 days, you should consult your doctor. If a relapse of symptoms occurs within 2 months of using the cream, it is also necessary to seek medical attention.
