Uses
Ceff (Cephalexin Monohydrate) is a type of antibiotic known as a cephalosporin. These antibiotics are considered to have some similarities to penicillin and are widely used in the treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria, and in particular, gram positive bacteria. It may also be used for prophylaxis of bacterial infections. By destroying the bonds that keep the bacterial cell wall intact, this medicine causes the destruction of the bacteria, leading to the eventual treatment of the condition.

Dosage and Administration
Before taking Ceff (Cephalexin Monohydrate) capsules, it is important to listen carefully to the dosage instructions that your doctor gives you. The dosage required will be different for each patient, and will depend on the condition that is being treated. Adults treating a skin infection or a bacterial soft tissue infection may be instructed by their doctor to take 250mg every 6 hours, or as an alternative to this, 500mg every 12 hours. The length of time that treatment needs to continue for will be decided by the doctor. Other conditions will require a different dosage regimen.

Side effects
Treatment of bacterial infections with Ceff (Cephalexin Monohydrate) might result in some side effects, such as:

  • Vomiting
  • Indigestion
  • Loose stools
  • Spinning sensation
  • Pain affecting the abdomen

If you experience any side effects during treatment with this medicine, you should inform your doctor. Treatment will be required straight away if you notice an infection of the vagina, painful sores affecting the mouth, bruising, decreased urination, hallucinations or any other serious side effects.

Precautions
In some cases, an improvement in symptoms may occur before the entire prescribed amount of medicine has been taken. However, it is essential to continue treatment for the entire period of time prescribed, otherwise your symptoms may return.

Treatment with antibiotics can sometimes cause colitis. If you experience diarrhoea that is bloody or serious, either while taking the medicine or after you have finished treatment, see your doctor immediately.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Ceff (Cephalexin Monohydrate) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.
