Uses
Cort-S Injection (Hydrocortisone) is a corticosteroid hormone which shares some likenesses to a hormone that is naturally produced by the adrenal glands. This medicine helps to reduce swelling, and is widely used as an anti-inflammatory agent. It works by reducing the amount of chemicals that can cause swelling from being released by the body.
This medicine is injected to treat many different conditions (as deemed necessary by a doctor). Conditions it may be prescribed for include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, tenosynovitis, asthma, and other medical conditions affecting the eyes, thyroid, intestines, blood or skin. In some cases, it may be prescribed to reduce side effects from certain other drugs.
Dosage and Administration
Cort-S Injection (Hydrocortisone) is administered by a doctor, either intramuscularly or as a slow intravenous injection or infusion. The exact method used will be at the discretion of the prescribing doctor. Generally, the injection procedure will take place at a doctor's office or in a hospital environment. Your doctor will decide how often the injection needs to be given, as well as how long treatment will need to continue for.
